Born in Preston, Simon joined Blackpool as a scholar and made his first team debut for them during the 2003-04 season. He had a spell on loan with Macclesfield Town during the 2006-07 season and then again during the following season.
He played 31 League games for Blackpool, scoring three times and twenty four games for the Silkmen in the League before moving north of the border in the summer of 2008 and joining Dunfermline Athletic. He made nine appearances for the Pares as injury hampered his availability before his release in August 2009
He joined Barrow in January 2010 and made his debut as a substitute in the F.A. Trophy win at Maidenhead. He was a member of the 2009-10 FA Trophy winning squad.
