Born in Swandlincote, Derbyshire, Marc began his career in 2000 with Stoke City and made 54 appearances for the Potters, scoring six times. He also had a spell on loan with IB Vestmannaeyar.
In 2004, he joined Bristol City. He made 20 appearances for the Robins that season, scoring four times and also had a spell on loan with Port Vale (4 appearances), Swansea City (6 appearances, 3 goals) and Colchester United (5 appearances, 1 goal).In the summer of 2005 he joined Swansea city permanently and made 11 appearances for them without finding the net.
In February 2006, he joined Grimsby Town and made 10 appearances for them, scoring once before being released in the summer. He started the 2006-07 season with Bury where he made 4 appearances. In November 2006 he joined Burton Albion for whom he has appeared 68, scoring 11 goals. He was a member of their Blue Square Premir title winning squad in the 2008-09 season.
He joined Barrow on loan at the end of November 2009 and made his debut in the FA Cup tie at Oxford. He returned to Burton after the FA Cup tie at Sunderland in January 2010 and at the end of that month joined Kidderminster Harriers on loan for the rest of the season. He was released by Burton Albion at the end of last season and joined Barrow in August 2010.
